概要 This class will look at American society and culture in the 20th century. We will examine immigration, the rise of consumer culture, World Wars One and Two, the Great Depression, the Cold War and the rise of American empire.
科目の到達目標 To understand the complex forces at work in America during the superpower period
受講要件 English speaking, reading and writing ability at a graduate level.

7. Suburbanization and White Urban Flight (1 week)
8. The Baby Boom (1 week)
9. 1950s Conformity and Fear of Conformity (1 week)
10. The Civil Rights Movement (1 week)
11. The Acquisition of Rights by Marginal Groups (1 week)
12. The Vietnam War (1 week)
13. The Counterculture of the 1960s (1 week)

担当者プロフィール Robert Jacobs is an American historian of science and technology and nuclear war and peace. He received his PhD at the University of Illinois. He is the author of the book The Dragon’s Tail, and is the editor of the book, Filling the Hole in the Nuclear Future.
